Woodwork

Woodwork

Claire has received training from Pete Moorhouse who is an artist, sculptor and author of 'Learning through Woodwork'.

She loves to see how using creativity and imagination leads to brilliant pieces of woodwork from children.

Children from three years old onwards can learn the skills of using a stubby ball hammer, nails, a hand drill, small screwdrivers.

They can learn vital health and safety rules and understand how to risk assess with the guidance of an adult.

Plan/Do/Review

Using this strategy ensures children think critically about what they are going to create and to evaluate what they could do differently next time.

They may create something open ended using their imagination or make a model linked to their learning/a theme.
